Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge Wins Consulting Engineers of Alberta Award
- Détails
The Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge won an Award of Merit from the Consulting Engineers of Alberta in the Project Management category for the innovative approach to procurement. Urban Systems and the Town of Cochrane were at the Awards Gala to receive the award.
RJC is the bridge engineer for the project while Urban Systems is the prime consultant and civil engineer for the roadway, and PCL Construction Management is the contractor. The award recognizes Urban Systems work at developing a specific value focused procurement model to design and construct the bridge for the Town of Cochrane. At $54M, the bridge is the largest infrastructure project in the Town of Cochrane’s history.
The bridge has a three span arrangement with a total length of ~160m. Innovative design features include semi-integral abutments, stainless steel deck reinforcement and geogrid stabilized approaches. RJC completed the structural design of all elements including foundations, piers, girders, road deck and guards in accordance with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code.
The bridge is named after Jack Tennant, the founder/publisher of the Cochrane Eagle and a well-known columnist with the Calgary Sun and Calgary Herald.
