The University of British Columbia (UBC) Asian Centre roof was originally built with a donated structural steel framework from the roof of Sanyo Pavilion at the 1970 World Exposition in Osaka.

Having done a study for UBC to investigate the leaks in the roof that had been an issue almost from the time of original construction, RJC took on a major re-roofing project for the building.

RJC engaged Chernoff Thompson Architects as an architectural consultant and worked with Coastpro Contracting Ltd.

To create narrow profile sheet metal tile cladding to replicate the original of form and appearance.

A new waterproofing membrane was added which significantly increased the insulation to meet the University’s design guidelines.
