Dockside Green
In the heart of Victoria, Dockside Green is a community of mid and low-rise buildings situated on 15 acres of former industrial land adjacent to the Upper Harbour and downtown.
It offers 1.3 million square feet of mixed residential, office, retail and industrial space, and represents the biggest development of city land in Victoria's history. The 93-unit Synergy project was the first phase of the Dockside Green development. Its energy efficient design provides 50-60% energy savings, 100% fresh air systems, and over-height ceilings in most living areas for natural lighting.Units include spacious, open-air balconies and patios with private pre-cast concrete planters.
They have rainwater storage tanks for watering and storm water management systems that help reduce the impact on Victoria’s infrastructure and natural waterways.
The second phase of the development, Balance, was designed to use 65% less potable water than traditional developments, treating 100% of sewage on-site and using re-claimed water for toilets and irrigation.
To help maintain comfortable indoor temperatures in the condominiums, townhouses and garden flats, we used double-glazed, low-emittance windows, high-insulating walls, and external shading devices on most south and west windows.Regionally sourced and manufactured materials with high recycled content, low VOC (volatile organic compound) paint finishes, and 40% fly ash content to reduce greenhouse emissions, were just a few of the techniques adopted by the design team to achieve LEED Platinum certification.Madrona is the latest development at Dockside Green Development. This project is a three-storey rental townhouse development, which received the UDI Awards for Excellence for Non Market Housing.
The development is targeting LEED® Platinum certification.
