RJC Engineers led the building enclosure renewal project for several buildings at Douglas College's Coquitlam campus.

Our team provided comprehensive building envelope, building performance, and structural engineering services for this project. The major rehabilitation program was successfully completed while the facility remained fully operational, and with minimal disruption to students and staff.

The project scope aimed to rejuvenate the building envelope, enhancing both aesthetic appeal and energy performance across the campus.

RJC's Building Performance team contributed to this building envelope renewal by performing an energy analysis based on relative energy savings and spreadsheet-based calculations.

This effort identified optimal energy conservation measures tailored to the exterior building components, ensuring significant energy savings and potential grants.A comparison between pre-retrofit and post-retrofit with Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) Greenhouse Gas Reductions was made to assess impact on the environment. These changes also considered climate resilience and anticipated any adaptations to climate change stresses.

The ECMs proposed considered the campus’ requirement to remain in continuous operation and with minimal disruption to users.
