Laura Talboys

Laura leads complex, multidisciplinary project teams to create solutions that deliver on a client’s vision. She is a dedicated, diligent engineer with a calm and patient demeanor. Laura is a creative thinker who solves problems. She brings a wealth of experience in the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, industrial buildings, parkades, recreational facilities and commercial buildings.
Laura has led the delivery of projects where RJC is the Prime Consultant. Her experience includes two new parkades for Alberta Health Services; one designed to accommodate 1,000 stalls and another which required additional coordination with the construction of a neighboring long term care facility. Laura was also RJC’s lead for the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant, a design-build project with Spanish contractor ACCIONA. Laura’s strong project management skills helped to her to lead the RJC team to deliver on a hyper fast-tracked schedule, while coordinating with other consultants from across Canada, California and Spain.
Laura’s Bachelor of Science (Civil Engineering) and Master of Science (Structural Engineering) are from the University of Alberta. Laura is a strong advocate for women in STEM. She is active with WISEST (Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science and Technology) at the University of Alberta, and volunteers at events where she interacts with young women and girls to highlight STEM-related careers. She also volunteers as a mentor to undergraduate students and early career professionals through the WiSER program.
