Viridian at 1783 W.

14th is a 12-storey residential rental tower providing the community with 118 residential rental units. The building is located on the same site as an existing building owned by the same owner.

The existing underground parkade in the portion of the new building was demolished and replaced with a new parkade.

The new parkade is functionally connected to the existing parkade providing over 100 new parking spaces.

Throughout construction, it was important for the existing building (including a portion of the existing parkade) to remain occupied with minimal disruption to the tenants. This requirement and the interface between the existing and new buildings from the foundations to the ground floor were the primary structural engineering challenges on this project. In addition to providing Structural Engineering services, RJC also provided Exterior Building Maintenance Access System Consulting Services which consisted of the design of an exterior building maintenance system for the new residential tower.

This included coordination with the project team for design development through to technical review during construction.
